Any length of metal that has a round or square cross-section is defined as a billet. Steel billet derives from quality raw steel which requires a fine metallurgic processing before utilization by the end users.
Steel billets have a specific grain structure, which allows the metal to be highly malleable during processing. Main characteristic are malleability and ductility at various temperatures during the cutting and moulding.
Stainless steel castings are required to shape and mould, such as hot and cold working, milling and cutting before the billets can be used for different applications. Final products include bar stock and wires.
